Our Mission
EBM International is a missionary organization with world wide ministries. From its humble beginnings on Andros, Island, Bahamas in 1940 it has expanded to ministry involvement in 17 countries where teams of missionaries have planted a wide variety of ministries including:
- Churches
- Schools
- Medical clinics
- Orphanages
- Vocational training centers
- Bible Colleges
- Self-help projects
GOD LOVES PEOPLE . . . AND SO DO WE!
Many of these “mission fields” have advanced to be totally self supporting and self administrated by capable nationals. This is the goal of all our over seas missionary endeavors. We consider a mission accomplished when we can move our foreign missionaries to other new fields of service and leave the ministries we have founded in trained and capable hands.
EBM stands for Evangelical Bible Mission, Inc.. We are incorporated in the State of Florida as Evangelical Bible Mission,Inc. (DBA EBM International) as a religious, charitable, non-profit organization, and hold Florida tax exempt status. EBM is a 501(c)(3) organization.
EBM “Firsts”
- EBM was the first to start a Christian Radio Station in the north part of Haiti.(1949)
- EBM was first to Pioneer a mission station in the in the Pabarabuk area of the Highlands of New Guinea. (1948)
- EBM was first to take the gospel into the Wiru valley in the Southern Highlands of New Guinea.(1960)
- EBM was first to get a Christian Radio Station license in the South Pacific island nation of Fiji (1997).
- EBM was one of the first to start a Bible College in Ukraine after the fall of the “Iron Curtain” (1992)
- EBM President, Gerald Bustin and his wife were among the first to cross over into East Berlin after Check Point Charlie was removed.(1989)
- EBM was the first to start an Evangelical Bible College in the Kasoa Village of Ghana (1989)
- EBM was the first to start a network of Christian Radio Stations in Papua New Guinea (2002)
What We Believe

We believe that there is one God who has always existed and is manifested in three Persons: The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that this God is the eternal source of all that exists, and that having created the universe, He stands superior to and separate from His creation in intelligence, power and holiness, but chooses to live in loving relationship with it.
We believe that mankind is created in the moral, intellectual, and spiritual image of God, and as such, is uniquely more valuable, and above all the rest of creation, with a moral responsibility to interact with and obey his Creator.
We believe that God gave us the Holy Bible, by Divinely inspiring men who knew Him to write the words it contains, and that the original writings are the infallible and inerrant Word of God.
We believe that this Bible is the “operations manual” for the human race, and that by reading it with the enlightening influence of the Holy Spirit, we can know all that is important for us to find eternal life, and that we are morally responsible to obey all we know to be right.
We believe that our original parents offended God by disrespect and disobedience, and in doing so, passed on to all their descendants a natural tendency (nature) that rebels against God, and that because of this, we are all natural born sinners.
We believe that this nature led us all to commit acts of transgression against God’s Law, and that because of those transgressions, we became legally guilty and under condemnation of eternal death.
We believe that because of God’s love for mankind, He chose to come to His creation in the person of the Son, Jesus Christ, and that by a Divine miracle, Jesus was born, (without the sinful nature) of the virgin Mary.
We believe that Jesus lived a sinless life, revealed the truth about God to the world through His life and teachings and then died on the cross, suffering the penalty for sin, as the substitute for the whole human race.
We believe that Jesus was crucified and buried but rose from the dead on the third day, and ascended back to Heaven, but that, because He is God, He is everywhere present, and available to all who will pray to Him.
We believe that if we are willing to turn from our sins, confess them to Jesus, and trust Him to forgive us, we will be pardoned from all our guilt, and will be empowered to live a life above the control of sin, by the Holy Spirit He sends into our lives.
We believe that it is the privilege of every true believer to pray for, and receive by faith the filling of the Holy Spirit who is sent to cleanse and empower us to live victorious Christian lives to the glory of God.
We believe that God has called us, and by His Holy Spirit wishes to empower us, to live lives of holiness here in this present world, and that this holiness consists of true Christ-likeness, in which it becomes our highest goal that the true Biblical life of Jesus should become visible in us.
We believe that the New Birth brings us into the Family of God as His children, and that we share this family as brothers and sisters with all who have trusted in Jesus Christ, and believe and obey the Bible, regardless of race, color, or denominational name.
We believe that Jesus taught we should discern true and false Christianity by the fruit of believers and that not all who say, “Lord, Lord,” are true believers but those who do the Will of God as given to us in the holy, inspired Word of God— the Bible which is the absolute and final authority in all things pertaining to faith and Christian behavior.
We stand with the body of true Christians— the body of true Believers everywhere— on the authority of Scripture and God’s Truth as central to our lives.
We believe what the Bible says about marriage is clear, definitive and unchanging. We affirm biblical, traditional, natural marriage as the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. The Scriptures’ teaching on marriage is not negotiable. We stake our lives upon the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
Because of our faith in what the Bible teaches we will not accept, nor adhere to, any legal redefinition of marriage issued by any political or judicial body. We will not recognize same-sex “marriages”, our churches will not host same-sex ceremonies, and we will not perform such ceremonies.
Because the Bible says that whether we eat or drink or whatever we do, we must do all to the glory of God, we refuse to allow ourselves, our ministries, our facilities, and our personnel to be used for any purpose that is not for the glory of God or that God’s Word declares to be offensive to Him.
Because everything and all we do is a part of our ministry to glorify God, we consider every worker, employee, and volunteer, engaged in service with and for this ministry and it’s branches or subsidiaries, whether officially ordained to preach the gospel or not, to be a Minister of God, and as such must agree to live and abide by the moral standards of the Bible.
While we affirm our love for all people, including those struggling with same-sex attraction, we cannot and will not affirm the moral acceptability of homosexual behavior or any behavior that deviates from God’s design for marriage. We also believe that our first duty is to love and obey God, not man.
We believe that it is our duty and privilege to meet together with our spiritual brothers and sisters to share in Worship, Fellowship, and united Service to God, on a local level, and to be in spiritual unity with all true believers in Jesus Christ on the world-wide level
We believe that it is also our duty to share the message of God’s love for the world, with the world. Because God loves all, it is our duty to tell all. We call this effort to share God’s love with all the world, “Missions.”
We believe that, because Jesus gave us the “Great Commission,” to be truly “Christian,” means we must have a loving concern for the missionary effort of world evangelization.
Our Focus
EBM International is committed to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole world in fulfillment of the Great Commission. Following are specific areas on which we are focused…
Promote Revival and Prayer: We are convinced that God wants to send revival to the church. A restoration of the image of Christ in the church will result in a demonstration of the Love f Christ to the world. Prayer, repentance and unity are necessary for revival to come. We emphasize prayer as the primary weapon of spiritual warfare and the absolute importance of unity within the whole body of Christ.
Reach Unreached People Groups: It is the will and purpose of God that every people group will have the opportunity to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we promote a global vision which includes taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to the unreached people groups of the earth.
Provide Leadership Training: EBM International has a strong conviction that leadership development is essential for effective fruitful ministry. That is why we are committed to equipping national Christian leaders for effective leadership in their nations.
Empower the Under-privileged: We are committed to James 1:27 “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” To this end, EBM International creates a means to provide for and empower the underprivileged, the poor, the widows, and the fatherless to live for Christ.
Emphasize Living The Life of Christ: We are committed to living the life of Jesus rather than just talking about him. We are called to be in relationship with God and our fellowmen to be a redemptive force operating under the divine responsibility to promote revival and reformation in the earth. This revival will only come when the body of Christ begins to truly reflect the beauty of the image of God as revealed in the face of Jesus Christ. Thus the Church must have revival or fail in its redemptive mission. We must not only speak about Jesus – we must live Him before the world and truly make Jesus visible to the whole world.

EBM International Was Founded By Pioneer Missionary
Mr. Bustin was born July 22, 1903, at Forrest, Mississippi, USA. As a young lad, growing up on the farm, he learned quickly the disciplines as well as the rewards of hard work and early rising.
While in his late teens, he committed his life to God and immediately felt called to the ministry. Consequently he enrolled at Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tennessee where he tended huge furnaces and shoveled snow to pay his tuition.
Mr. Bustin began his preaching career in 1922 and took his first pastorate at age 23. That same year he met and married a young schoolteacher, Lura May Cox, of Bono Arkansas. Together they pioneered home mission churches in the South for several years. He also served as District Superintendent for the Pilgrim Holiness Church, being appointed to that position by Rev. Seth C. Reese. This was during the depression and times were hard.
In 1937, Rev. Bustin felt the call to overseas missions and circled the globe, preaching to eager throngs in Australia, India, Egypt, Scotland and England. Upon his return home 17 months later, his zeal for world missions was so strong he would never again settle down to the comforts of America.
At the beginning of World War II, G.T.Bustin took his wife and four young children to begin a mission work in the Bahamas. This became the birthplace of what is today know as EBM International. In 1945, again taking his family, he launched a new missionary work in Haiti. Later he established a powerful and influential Christian radio station (4-VEH) there.
In 1948 Rev. Bustin felt led of God to pioneer a mission work among stone-age people in the Highlands of New Guinea. The people, though uncivilized and considered dangerous, took a great liking to this strange “red-man.” Today there is a thriving work with over 500 national churches continuing the ministry he started in Papua New Guinea.
Shortly after pioneering the work in New Guinea, G.T.Bustin returned to Haiti where his wife, Lura May, also a devoted missionary, had been leading the work in his absence. Only two weeks after his return home, Lura May passed away suddenly leaving a grief stricken husband and six children to carry on with a growing missionary work in three countries, Bahamas, Haiti, and New Guinea.
About one year after the passing of Lura May, Rev. Bustin was united in marriage with Alma E. Platt, a registered nurse. For more than forty years they ministered together in many countries around the world.
In 1956, Mr. Bustin purchased a farm in the central Florida town of Summerfield, with a herd of white-faced Herford cattle. The land was to become the home base of the mission. Sale of the cattle allowed for a debt-free property which is now headquarters for EBM International.
At age 90, Mr. Bustin was still not ready for retirement. He made one more sacrificial effort to launch a mission work—this time in Belize, Central America. He loved the dear Indians there and once more won the hearts of the people. They loved his snow-white hair and many thrilling stories and inspiring sermons.
On Saturday, July 22, 1995, on his 92nd birthday, after more than sixty years of missionary work, Rev. G.T.Bustin went to be the Lord and Savior he loved so well.When his wife, Alma, fell, breaking her hip, necessitating their return to the States, it was a sad disappointment. Alma needed a skilled nursing facility and Mr. Bustin was grateful to be a resident at Surrey Inn, next door, where he was free to visit his wife daily.
In 1985, Rev. G.T.Bustin’s youngest son, Gerald Thomas, who had served for over 20 years as a missionary to New Guinea, was elected by the Board of Directors to serve as the General Director of EBM International. That position has since been retitled, President.
Since 1985, under President Gerald Bustin’s leadership, EBM International has grown and expanded its ministries into 17 countries.

E.B.M. stands for- Evangelical Bible Mission, Inc. We are incorporated in the state of Florida as a religious, charitable, non-profit organization, and hold Florida tax exemption status, Certificate number 52-00-033540-55C.
EBM is also recognized as an organization exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to EBM are deductible as provided in section 170 of the Code.
