Missionary of the Month
JANUARY 2009
PATRICIA AND MELINDA SMITH
Patricia and Melinda Smith are ministering at the Haiti Children's Home (HCH). They are providing care for malnourished, premature, and abandoned children in Haiti. HCH relies upon God for their needs through individual donors and churches.
Melinda has been instrumental in saving the lives of countless babies who are brought to the Home. Haiti's health care system is not far enough developed to care for premature babies. As a result, many children die within the first month of life.
Please pray for Pat and Melinda Smith and their work in Haiti. Pray for spiritual victory and fruitfulness; physical health, strength, and endurance; God's guidance and provision; and for a couple (or individuals) with nursing abilities to come and help at HCH |

RODGER & KAREN RINKER
The Rinkers first moved into the Sunchild Reserve in 1975, after holding VBS and summer camps, beginning in 1971. They set up a tent camp in the location where they planned on building the mission, but within a few weeks, the worse flood in history took all the roads out leading into the area. They were given permission to locate in an area on higher ground, and they moved their tent camp. In August a work crew arrived from Pennsylvania, and framed up a church and mission home. Volunteers from Red Deer, Alberta carried on, finishing the house, and the Rinkers moved out of the tents into the house by Christmas, 1986. Since then they have continued to serve the people in the reservation through VBS, Sunday school, and many outreach programs.
Please pray for Rodger and Karen Rinker and the arctic Outreach in Canada. Pray for spiritual victory and fruitfulness; physical health, strength, and endurance; God's guidance and provision; and their adult children back in the United States.

DAVID AND JULIET AKAJI
AFRICAN REGION
David Akaji was born and raised in Nigeria. He lost his father at age five, and received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at fifteen years of age. David testifies "that experience changed his view and goal of life." He worked hard to earn his doctorate degree in Educational Administration. David is blessed with a God-fearing wife, Juliet; two daughters, Rebecca and Bethany; and two sons, Andrew and Daniel. His oldest daughter, Rebecca, is in college in Orlando.
Dr. Akaji served in Bible college administration in Nigeria for ten years and as a missionary and president of Pacific Bible in Papua New Guinea for two years. Mr. Akaji and his family may very well be the first African missionaries to the country of Papua New Guinea in the South Pacific.
Currently, Dr. Akaji is the vice president of EBM International overseeing the work in Cameroon, Ghana, and Nigeria. Dr. Akaji has a goal of developing national leaders for effective ministry in Africa; empowering the under-privileged to live a responsible life; educating young people to make healthy choices; and reaching the unreached people groups of the world.
Please pray for David and Juliet Akaji and the work in Africa. David will spend this summer in Ghana teaching, preaching, and administration. Pray for funds for this trip, anointing, physical health, strength, and endurance; God's guidance and provision for the family.
